Cloud computing service Tencent Cloud has unveiled its Super App as a Service (TCSAS) service at MWC Barcelona 2025<\/a>, with the goal of helping businesses build integrated digital ecosystems through super-app strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The role of super apps in digital connectivity<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

By 2027, more than half of the global population is expected to be active users of multiple super apps, according to industry estimates. Businesses are increasingly turning to these platforms to improve user engagement, retention, and income by providing seamless digital experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TCSAS is designed to help enterprises develop, scale, and operate super apps by leveraging Tencent\u2019s experience with WeChat\/Weixin, which serves 1.3 billion monthly active users. The platform offers businesses the tools and infrastructure needed to onboard mini apps, enabling plug-and-play functionality on a single platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The solution also functions as a digital marketplace, offering mini games, content apps, e-commerce tools, and industry-specific templates. Its capabilities include instant messaging, live streaming, and interactive content, which Tencent Cloud reports can drive longer user engagement and higher retention rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Super apps in telecom and beyond<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Telecom firms are among the first to adopt TCSAS to improve their digital services. Orange Middle East and Africa (OMEA) has used the platform to develop Max It, an open digital super app ecosystem that integrates telecommunications, financial services, and e-commerce. The app features a variety of mini apps, covering utilities, lifestyle services, shopping, and entertainment, all designed to provide users with a centralised digital experience. Max It is expected to reach 45 million users this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond the telecom sector, TCSAS is being adopted in banking, gaming, and government services. Organisations such as Telkomsel in Indonesia, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), and Middle Eastern game developer PlaysOut have incorporated the platform to expand their digital capabilities and streamline operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
