{"id":93888,"date":"2021-01-07T14:48:04","date_gmt":"2021-01-07T14:48:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cloudcomputing-news.net\/?p=93888"},"modified":"2021-01-07T14:48:07","modified_gmt":"2021-01-07T14:48:07","slug":"google-cloud-advertises-for-blockchain-sales-manager-in-china","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cloudcomputing-news.net\/news\/google-cloud-advertises-for-blockchain-sales-manager-in-china\/","title":{"rendered":"Google Cloud advertises for blockchain sales manager in China"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Google Cloud is looking for a business development manager based in China focused on blockchain technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/jobs\/view\/2222401557\/?alternateChannel=search&amp;refId=MSnkYPJdsOr5P%2BswAPl%2Fyg%3D%3D&amp;trackingId=1vTGp%2BBkGy0eGm4Z%2B84a0A%3D%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LinkedIn job advert<\/a> posted a week ago, the ideal candidate is expected to have a decade of experience selling infrastructure software, databases, analytic tools or applications software, and knowledge of C-suite dealings, among other qualifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The word &#8216;blockchain&#8217; itself, perhaps wisely, does not appear in the posting itself, only noting &#8216;knowledge of the specific industry&#8217; would be preferred. The applicant will expect to &#8216;actively understand each customer&#8217;s technology footprint, strategic growth plans and business drivers, technology strategy and landscape&#8217;, in the words of the advert &#8211; of which blockchain presumably plays a large part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Google Cloud&#8217;s targeting of blockchain is an interesting one, compared with its hyperscaler cloud rivals. The company does offer blockchain services to enterprises &#8211; such as being able to build hybrid blockchain and cloud applications with Ethereum &#8211; but the company is less recognised when it comes to managed blockchain. A <a href=\"https:\/\/blockchaintechnology-news.com\/2020\/01\/everest-group-enterprise-managed-blockchain-analysis-places-ibm-and-microsoft-at-the-summit\/\">report from Everest Group<\/a> this time last year placed Alibaba Cloud, AWS, IBM, Microsoft Azure, Oracle and SAP at the summit, with Google nowhere to be seen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company does have various partnerships in place, however. In May, Google Cloud <a href=\"https:\/\/cloudcomputing-news.net\/news\/2020\/may\/28\/google-cloud-teams-up-with-theta-labs-for-blockchain-based-video-delivery\/\">joined the enterprise program<\/a> of blockchain-based video delivery network Theta Labs, providing &#8216;stability, reliability and security&#8217; to the network.
